The MMT Observatory will host an MMT Science Symposium on the campus of the University of Arizona on April 7-9, 2026. The goals of the meeting include bringing together the MMT user community to discuss current and future science with the Observatory, forthcoming instruments and initiatives, new projects, and strategic planning. We invite MMT users to present any past, current, or future MMT science projects, updates on new instrumentation (e.g., VIASpec and MAPS), and ideas or recommendations for the next generation of instruments and operations at the MMT.

The symposium will also include a retrospective of science with the Hectospec and Hectochelle instruments on the occasion of their retirement in spring 2026. Therefore, we also invite presentations that highlight historical results from Hectospec or Hectochelle throughout their 22 years of operation.

Researchers and engineers from all institutions are invited to attend and contribute. If you have topics you would like to suggest for sessions or breakout groups, contact the organizers at symposium@mmto.org.
